The Emirates Society welcomed friends and partners from across the UAE-UK community for its Summer Reception, celebrating the enduring friendship between the two countries and the many connections that continue to bring them closer.

Held at 5 Hertford Street, the evening was hosted by His Excellency Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK. His Excellency Omar Ghobash, UAE Ambassador to the Holy See, attended as guest of honour and delivered remarks on the importance of dialogue, cultural exchange and mutual understanding in building relationships between nations.

The reception brought together a distinguished group of guests from across British public life, united by a shared commitment to the friendship between the UAE and the UK.

In his remarks, Ambassador Abulhoul reflected on the resilience shown by the UAE in recent months, and the strength of a society built on openness, tolerance and opportunity. He highlighted the contribution of the many communities that call the UAE home, including British nationals, and the enduring bonds that connect people across both countries.

The Ambassador emphasised that the UAE-UK relationship extends far beyond official agreements, noting that its foundation lies in the friendships, ideas and ambitions shared between Emiratis and Britons.

He also highlighted the many ways in which the relationship continues to flourish beyond diplomacy and economy, from travel and sport to education, culture and philanthropy. More than 5.5 million passengers travelled between the UAE and the UK with Emirates last year, reflecting the close personal links that exist between the two countries.

The Summer Reception formed part of the Emirates Society’s ongoing programme of events, bringing together voices from across both countries through conversations, cultural initiatives and gatherings that celebrate the many connections defining the UAE-UK partnership.
